Signal Configuration - 802.11ax

This topic applies to the following Generation Modes:

1. General Settings

Space Time Block Coding

Enable/disable space time block coding. STBC encoder spreads constellation points from Nss spatial stream into Nsts space-time streams using a space-time block code. STBC is allowed only with single spatial stream and two space-time streams.

LTF Symbol Interval Mode

Select the Symbol interval (with guard interval) for the HE-LTF field. The current combinations are 1x HE-LTF + 0.8 µs, 2x HE-LTF + 0.8 µs, 2x HE-LTF + 1.6 µs ,4x HE-LTF + 3.2 µs, and 4x HE-LTF + 0.8 µs.

Number of HE-LTFs (Nheltf)

Specify the number of HE-LTFs.

Number of Total Space Time Streams (Nsts, total)

This is information indicating the total number of space time streams , which is equal to the sum of the Nsts for each user.

Number of Transmit Chains (Ntx)

Set the number of transmit chains. When the number of instruments is more than 1 and the Channel State is Off, it automatically equals to the number of instruments and can't be changed, otherwise, it's editable.

Pre-FEC Padding Factor

Get or set Pre-FEC Padding Factor.

Maximum Packet Extension Duration

Set or Get the Maximum Packet Extension Duration for Current PPDU.

2. HE-SIG-A Settings

Link

Indicates whether the frame is Uplink or Downlink. The field is set to DL for TDLS.

TXOP Duration

Set or Get the remaining time duration in the current TXOP. Set to 8449 μs to indicate no duration information. Set to value other than 8449 μs to indicate the duration information for NAV setting and protection of the TXOP. When the value ranges from 0 to 504 μs, the granularity is 8 μs. When the value ranges from 512 to 8448 μs, the granularity is 128 μs.

BSS Color

Get or Set the Base station identifier. The BSS Color field is an identifier of the BSS.

Beam Change

Indicate pre-coder change/no change between L-LTF and HE-LTF.Set to 1 indicates that the pre-HE-STF portion of the SU PPDU is spatially mapped differently from HELTF1.Set to 0 indicates that the pre-HE-STF portion of the SU PPDU is spatially mapped the same way as HELTF1 on each tone.

Spatial Reuse

Indication of CCA Level, Interference Level accepted, TX Power.

Doppler Indication

Indicate a PPDU with enhanced immunity to Doppler.

106-tone RU Mode Indication

Enable or disable the mode of Single spatial stream HE-MCS 0 in the right 106-tone RU of the primary 20 MHz channel for an HE Extended Range SU PPDU.

Midamble Periodicity

Indication of midamble periodicity. The midamble is present only when the number of OFDM symbols in the HE Data field is larger than the signaled midamble periodicity plus 1 and the Doppler indication is on.

3. Spatial Mapping

Spatial Mapping Matrix

Set the contents of the spatial mapping matrix.

User #

Displays the index for each user.

Nss

Displays the Number of Spatial Streams (Nss,u) used by current user. Its maximum value is 8 for Single User, while it is 4 for Multi User MIMO. The HE extended range SU PPDU can only be transmitted with MCS0, MCS1, MCS2 and only with 1 spatial stream.

Nsts,total

Displays the Number of Space Time Streams (Nsts,u) of current user. When STBC is OFF, it is equal Nss,u. When STBC is ON, it equals 2 times Nss,u.

Mcs Index

Double-click to go to the User Configuration property grid where you can select the MCS Index. Note that some MCS Indexes are defined as invalid by the standard and are not selectable. The HE extended range SU PPDU can only be transmitted with MCS0, MCS1, MCS2.

Channel Coding Mode

Double-click to go to the User Configuration property grid where you can select the Channel Coding Mode. Choices are BCC and LDPC encoding.

4. Impairments in Waveform

Quadrature Waveform Adjustment for Waveform 1

Range: -90 to 90 degrees

Set the baseband quadrature angle adjustment for Waveform 1 before channel fading and mirror spectrum.

The number of parameter groups depends on Number of Transmit Chains (Ntx). Each group is identified with an incremented waveform number, such as Waveform 1, Waveform 2, and so on.

I/Q Gain Balance for Waveform 1

Range: -10 to 10 dB

Set the baseband IQ gain balance for Waveform 1 before channel fading and mirror spectrum.

The number of parameter groups depends on Number of Transmit Chains (Ntx). Each group is identified with an incremented waveform number, such as Waveform 1, Waveform 2, and so on.
